Comparison of post-activation performance enhancement (PAPE) after isometric and isotonic exercise on vertical jump performance.

2021

Purpose This study aimed to compare the post-activation performance enhancement (PAPE) induced by isometric and isotonic exercise on vertical jump performance. Methods 18 healthy trained men (25.8±2.7 years; 78.4±8.2 kg; 175.7±6.1 cm; 25.4±1.8 BMI; 126.72±10.8 kg squat 1-RM) volunteered for this study. They randomly performed two different PAPE protocols: Isotonic squats (ISOTS), which consisted of 2 sets of 3 repetitions at 75% of one-maximum repetition (1-RM); and isometric squats (ISOMS), which consisted of 2 sets of 4 seconds of submaximal (75% of 1-RM) isometric contraction at 90°-knee flexion. Countermovement jump (CMJ) height was tested at baseline and 4 minutes after each condition…

Proteomic signature of the Dravet syndrome in the genetic Scn1a-A1783V mouse model.

2021

Abstract Background Dravet syndrome is a rare, severe pediatric epileptic encephalopathy associated with intellectual and motor disabilities. Proteomic profiling in a mouse model of Dravet syndrome can provide information about the molecular consequences of the genetic deficiency and about pathophysiological mechanisms developing during the disease course. Methods A knock-in mouse model of Dravet syndrome with Scn1a haploinsufficiency was used for whole proteome, seizure, and behavioral analysis. Hippocampal tissue was dissected from two- (prior to epilepsy manifestation) and four- (following epilepsy manifestation) week-old male mice and analyzed using LC-MS/MS with label-free quantificati…

Time-on-Task in Children with ADHD: An ex-Gaussian Analysis

2013

AbstractAlthough it is widely known that high intra-individual variability (IIV) is a key characteristic of attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), a detailed exploration of the IIV pattern during the time course of a cognitive task has never been carried out. In this study, 30 children with ADHD and 30 controls, were administered the Conners’ Continuous Performance Task (CPT-II). The across-block individual performance of the groups was analyzed using an ex-Gaussian approach, which enabled a clearer understanding of how individual response times (RTs) fluctuate during a task in comparison with conventional measures of central tendency. While the conventional measures showed a sign…

Bone rigidity to neuromuscular performance ratio in young and elderly men.

2009

Given the adaptation of bone to prevalent loading, bone loss should follow, but lag behind, the decline in physical performance during aging. Furthermore, bone responsiveness to load-induced strains is believed to decrease with aging. However, the relationship between bone and lean body ( approximately muscle) mass appears to remain rather constant throughout adulthood. The purpose of this study was to examine the association between age and bone to neuromuscular performance ratio. Young (N=20, age 24 SD+/-2 years, body mass 77+/-11 kg, height 178+/-6 cm) and elderly (N=25, 72+/-4 years, 75+/-9 kg, 172+/-5 cm) men served as subjects. Bone structural traits were measured at the right distal …

Comparative study of taurine and tauropyrone: GABA receptor binding, mitochondrial processes and behaviour.

2011

Abstract Objectives Taurine, a sulfur-containing amino acid, has high hydrophilicity and is poorly absorbed. Tauropyrone, a taurine-containing 1,4-dihydropyridine derivative, is suggested to have greater activity than taurine owing to improved physicochemical properties that facilitate delivery of the compound to target cells. The aim of this study was to determine whether the 1,4-dihydropyridine moiety in tauropyrone improves the pharmacological efficacy of taurine in vitro and in vivo. Methods The effects of taurine and tauropyrone, as well as of the 1,4-dihydropyridine moiety were compared in in-vitro experiments to determine the binding to GABA receptors and influence on mitochondrial p…

Rotarod impairment: catalepsy-like screening test for antipsychotic side effects.

2009

Extrapyramidal motoric symptoms are casual side effects under antipsychotic medication. New generation antipsychotics are expected to have a reduced risk due to different receptor affinities. Here, haloperidol and the new generation antipsychotics, risperidone, amisulpride, and aripiprazole, were examined with both catalepsy test and rotarod performance test to screen for their usability in mice. Mice treated with haloperidol, risperidone, and aripiprazole showed dose and time-dependent impairment. Amisulpride-treated mice showed no signs of catalepsy. Catalepsy test and rotarod performance test were useful methods to detect side effects of both generation antipsychotics. Catalepsy test pro…

Toward Prevention of Doping in Youth Sport: Cross-Sectional Analysis of Correlates of Doping Tendency in Swimming.

2019

Doping is recognized as one of the most important problems in sports, but a limited number of studies have investigated doping problems in youth athletes. This study aimed to evaluate doping tendency (potential doping behavior (PDB)) and correlates of PDB in youth age swimmers. The participants were 241 competitive swimmers (131 females

Transformations organisationnelles au cœur d'Entreprises de Service du Numérique (ESN) performantes : Une étude exploratoire

2022

The aim of our study is to deepen our knowledge of consulting companies in France. We seek, essentially, to understand the organizational characteristics of those who show better performance. We were particularly interested in the case of the IT consulting firm. T herefore, we conducted a series of semi- structured interviews with fourteen consulting experts in France over a period of five months. Our results paint an altered picture of these firms and show an evolving sector over the technological transformations of recent years. These changes are pushing IT consulting firms to rethink their managerial practices and organizational architectures to regain the confidence of consultants and d…

Promouvoir un management environnemental participatif

2011

How risk influences the choice of governance mode in biopharmaceutical inter-firm relationships

2013

Abstract This paper proposes a new theoretical framework for assessing the influence of risk in shaping the governance form in biopharmaceutical inter-firm relationships. In particular, we propose a multidimensional operationalization of relational and performance risk and, by following Transaction Cost Economics (TCE) and Real Options (RO) theory constructs, we hypothesize a relation between the aforementioned risk components and the choice of governance form. Specifically, following TCE reasoning, we hypothesize that a high level of relational risk leads towards more hierarchical governance forms, while, following RO theory, we hypothesize that a high level of performance risk leads towar…
